| Should I bring anything special??? | |||||||||||||||||||
| Besides yourselves and your family? Nope! Just dress for the weather. We provide measuring sticks, saws, netting, and people to tie the trees on your car. (You don't need to bring a saw, but if you REALLY want to, you may. We ask you not bring an ax, as there isn't really room to swing one safely, and the tree trunks are usually not the right size to use an ax on.) You come and have fun chosing your tree and cutting it down (and we can usually help you out with that part, too, if you need us to). Well - you MIGHT just want to bring your camera. There are a lot of photo opps... It will be November/December in Texas, so you might see 70 degree weather or (maybe) below freezing. It will probably rain at least one weekend we're open - we'll be open anyway. It may be muddy in spots! Bring a jacket, hat and gloves if it looks windy or chilly. Cut your tree and catch the tractor heading back to the sales barn. Once you get there, we'll help you get your tree ready to transport home. Usually this means our "shake n bake" treatment. Shaking is putting the tree on an electric shaking machine, to shake out any loose needles. (Hey dads, moms really appreciate this!) Then we'll run it through a Baling hoop (we call it baking for fun!) which nets the tree down compactly. This makes it easier to load on your car, to carry, and to get through the front door. We'll even tie it on the car for you or help you strap it down/tie it on your car roof rack. Some peoplel like to use bungee cords or tie straps, those are fine too! HOWEVER, if you are looking for a big tree, we do ask that you bring a trailer, or a big long-bed pickup truck to get it home! Some of these 10-and-12-foot trees are over the weight limit for a car roof (with or without a roof rack), no to mention as long as some cars! We do want you and your tree to make it home safely! Remember we are cash or check only, please, sorry but we don't accept credit cards. After your tree is loaded up, we invite you to come put your feet up and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate by the fire pit. Roast a marshmallow if you like, or maybe even make a S'more! Just sit and enjoy a few quiet moments of country air. Or perhaps you can persuade Grandad to read "Twere the Night 'Fore Christmas"! |

| Yes, that big tree is going to fit through the baler! Sometimes that's the only way they make it through the front door! | |||||||||||||||||||
| And Now for 2008 | |||||||||||||||||||
| 2009 has LOVELY trees! | |||||||||||||||||||
| We do have some really nice large trees! We got a lot of calls about 10-12 foot trees on our opening weekend 2007 and 2008. Yes, we have some over 12 feet! But be warned - those are BIG heavy trees. They may not fit on top of your small SUV (such as a Rav 4) or a mini-van. (The weight limit on most roof racks is 100 pounds). We know we have several trees that are approaching 15 feet - and those will need a flatbed trailer for transport! (Sorry, but we don't have a crane to lift them up onto cars either! ) | |||||||||||||||||||
